Budo Explained

A young student contacted Mr Poole to enquire about Aikido and Budo. He has since contacted me to ask if he can bring a piano on the mat!

Dear Sensei Poole
I was wondering if you could help me, I want to take up a martial art, and was thinking of Aikido, while browsing was led to your site. Would it be possible for you to explain to me the difference between Budo, Yoshinkan, and AikiKai.
Thanks
Tom

Thank you for your enquiry, Budo is all the martial arts, Usually one gets a Budo grade when they have 3rd dan grades in three seperate arts, Yoshinkan holds the basic principal like the scales of music while Aikikai is flow or in other words the melody, once one knows the scales. Give it a try and see how you get on.

Now why didn't Kenshiro Abbe Sensei explain it like that? Note the contadiction! Mr Poole 6th dan Budo and Mrs Poole 4th dan Budo do not have 3rd dan in three seperate m/arts,mmm
